Local Transportation

Honolulu International Airport to hotels

  • Shuttle services: Speedishuttle and Roberts Hawaii both charge $16 one way.
  • Ride Share: Lyft and Uber take approx 30 minutes (depending on traffic), $30–50. Lyft is generally slightly cheaper. There are dedicated pick-up zones at the airport (ride shares no longer pick up at baggage claim doors).
  • The Cab: Local taxi company, approx $40–50 to downtown locations.

Around Waikiki and beyond

Walking, bike share, bus, Lyft/Uber, and taxi are all great ways to get around Waikiki (parking, on the other hand, can be tricky and expensive). Detailed instructions to specific conference venues: Tutorials; Welcome ReceptionConference Dinner.

Bike share—you can pick up a Biki on the beach side of the conference hotel. Biki Stops accept credit cards; here’s how it works and here’s the app.

Public transit—you can get a one-day bus pass for $5.50 (adult) and hop over to the conference dinner or ride around the island to snorkel or hike at a state park.

Hotel

The Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort and Spa, 2552 Kalakaua Avenue,  is the venue for conference programming on 10–12 October (tutorials on the 9th take place at the East-West Center, 1601 East-West Road). This beach-front resort is walking distance to the Welcome Reception and adjacent to Kapiolani Park and the stunning Diamond Head State Monument and crater. Elevators and accessible bathrooms can be located on this floor plan (conference programming is in Paoakalani Tower)—if you need additional assistance please contact the hotel, (808) 922-6611 (or contact us if you have questions beyond the hotel specifically).
